Renato Elpidio Plomitallo
Resarch Fellow
Renato Elpidio Plomitallo is a postdoctoral research fellow with the TEI research group, contributing to the Agri-Cool EU project. He graduated in 2020 in Mechanical Engineering at University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”. In November 2020, he began a PhD course in Industrial and Information Engineering at the same University, focusing on energy conversion. His research centers on optimizing Latent Heat Thermal Energy Storage using materials such as metal foam and PCM. He has also developed dynamic models for solar and geothermal plants using TRNSYS software. Moreover, he has authored publications utilizing Life Cycle Assessments to evaluate the environmental impacts of these plants. In January 2024, he successfully completed the PhD course, presenting a thesis entitled “Numerical Investigation on Latent Heat Thermal Energy Storage and Energy Systems”. Before moving to Padova in November 2024, he completed his first year of postdoc at the University of Campania 'Luigi Vanvitelli' working on the EU-funded ASTEP project.
